Dr.
Gladys
Barnes is the First Elect Lady of Corinth Baptist Church
and the wife of Dr. Ulysees C. Barnes, Sr. She is
a quiet and reserved Christian woman who loves the
Lord and people. One of her ways of showing love
is giving thoughtful gifts to members of the
church family, as well as, to others. One of her
favorite scriptures is, "I will praise thee, O
Lord, with my whole heart; I will show forth all
thy marvelous works. Psalm 9:1.
She is very active
in the church, working with the Sunday school,
Missionary society, and serves as the Minister
Wives Coordinator. Also, Dr. Barnes is the
Minister Wives President of Lincoln District
Association, and Third Vice President of the
Church Women of the Temple area.
Her ministries
always include a deep interest and concern for
people. She is a
teacher, counselor, guest speaker, and mentor.
Dr. Barnes
earned a B.A. Degree in Elementary Education from Paul
Quinn College, Certificate in Mental
Retardation, a Master of Education in
Guidance and Counseling from Prairie View A&M
University, and a PhD in Doctrine of Ministry from
the Institute for Teaching God's Word Theological
Seminary in Rockdale, Texas.
She had been
working with children for several years;
dedicating much time and effort in developing them
to their full potential. Dr. Barnes taught school
in the Marlin and Connally Independent School
Districts, and retired in 2018 from the Temple
Independent School District.
Dr.
Barnes finds much
joy in being a
servant of God,
mother, grandmother, and a
friend to mankind.
